VoIP will make money, not save it

There are two problems with the hype around IP telephony. First, the hardware costs to make it work erode most of the potential savings. Second, people are stuck on "voice" and not taking advantage of what IP could enable. If all that has changed is the way the voice signal is carried, then VoIP changes nothing.
