For the Internet of things, a cheap but slow network

The Internet of things involves networking countless devices such as cars, toys, heart rate monitors, and traffic lights. But we need a way to connect all of these things to the Internet wirelessly. Ultra narrowband (UNB) can handle data-transfer speeds of 10 to 1,000 bits per second. While speed is not impressive, the cost and communication distance are apparently attractive.
