KMV Technologies Announces Name Change to LifeSize Communications

AUSTIN, Texas, May 3 /PRNewswire/ -- KMV Technologies today announced that it has changed its corporate name to LifeSize Communications, Inc., effective immediately. The new name better reflects the company's mission to make mainstream video communications a reality. In addition, the company has hired three key executives and has moved into larger headquarters at 901 South Mopac Expressway in Austin. The 39-person company raised $18.5M in Series A financing last year and has not yet unveiled the details behind the video communications solutions it is developing. Founders Craig Malloy and Michael Kenoyer are industry veterans with a track record of creating many of the leading products in the video communications space today.

The company also announced the addition of three key executives to the management team: Bill Paape as CFO and Vice President of Finance, Alan Hagedorn as Vice President of Operations, and Munira Fareed as Vice President of Marketing.

Bill Paape brings over 16 years of financial, operational, and management consulting experience to the company. Prior to LifeSize, Bill held several senior financial positions at Polycom, Inc., the most recent of which was VP, Treasurer. Prior to Polycom, Bill was the VP, Finance and CFO of ViaVideo Communications, Inc., a development stage videoconferencing company that was acquired by Polycom in 1998. Prior to ViaVideo, Bill held significant positions with Fisher Scientific and Anderson Consulting (Accenture). Bill is a Certified Public Accountant and holds an MBA in finance and a BBA in accounting/business honors, both from the University of Texas.
Alan Hagedorn is responsible for all manufacturing and logistics activities for the company, and is a 30-year technology veteran. His most recent position was Senior Vice President of Corporate Operations at Polycom where he was responsible for manufacturing, customer service, information technology and human resources. Prior to joining Polycom, Alan held executive positions at Amati Communications, Network Computing Devices, Anicon, Osborne Computer and Fairchild Test Systems. Alan holds a B.A. in Management from California State University, Fullerton.
Munira Fareed is responsible for all product marketing and demand generation activities for LifeSize. Before joining LifeSize, Munira founded and ran Appleseed Partners, a marketing consulting firm with technology clients in Texas and New York. Munira has also served as Vice President of Marketing for Ineto, a customer communications service provider that was acquired by Seibel. Prior to Ineto, Munira was responsible for product marketing and corporate communications at Netpliance, makers of the award- winning i-opener Internet appliance and service. Munira has also held senior marketing positions at Trilogy Software and Motorola, Inc. Munira has an undergraduate degree in computer science and economics from Lafayette College, and an MBA from Cornell University.
LifeSize Communications has moved into larger headquarters at 901 South Mopac Expressway in Austin. The move was necessary to accommodate increased staff levels and steady growth in operations. The company will now have 25,300 square feet of office space, more than a 200 percent increase over its previous headquarters on Capital of Texas Highway. Beyond the increase in square footage, the new facility will offer operational enhancements including a state of the art lab and a customer briefing and demonstration center. In addition to the new corporate headquarters, LifeSize Communications also has offices in London, UK.
